The people of the planet are running out of fresh water. Groundwater over-extraction, aquifer depletion, contamination, and climate change are all lined up to exacerbate an already large and growing imbalance.

Projected Water Stress Around the World by 2030

  • BlackRock projects that 30% are being impacted today and that over 60% of these assets will be negatively impacted by 2030
  • Even more troubling is their conclusion that virtually ALL INDUSTRIES are going to face comparable challenges

Water Stress is a Function of Absolute Humidity (AH) – Where AH is Low, Water Stress is High (Red)

  • This map captures the 12-month average concentration of water vapor around the planet
  • Tropical and Subtropical areas are rich in atmospheric vapor as shown in blue and green
  • You will note that the areas in red and orange near perfectly overlap the areas of water stress discussed in the previous slide
  • Where water vapor is rich in concentration, where it is blue, it is easy to generate water from the air with today’s technologies
  • Where water vapor is thin, where it is red, it is difficult or impossible
