Recognition honors his foundational scientific discoveries in porous materials and clean energy innovation

On October 8, 2025, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced that Professor Omar M. Yaghi, co-founder of WaHa and the James and Neeltje Tretter Chair in Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley, has been awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Professor Yaghi was honored for inventing reticular chemistry, a field he pioneered through the development of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) – materials that have reshaped approaches to energy storage, water generation, gas separation, and environmental remediation.

Since co-founding WaHa in 2018, Professor Yaghi’s vision and scientific insights have served as an inspiration to the company’s mission of delivering climate-resilient water and air solutions.

This Nobel Prize is awarded in recognition of Professor Yaghi’s academic and scientific work and is independent of any commercial activities or ventures.

We extend our deepest congratulations to Professor Yaghi for this extraordinary and well-deserved honor.
